Through community engagement, we can unite to make a difference in the St. Louis Region. This year, we’re proud to offer volunteer opportunities to give back to the community by partnering The United Way of Greater St. Louis.

Assemble Dental Hygiene kits & Reading Pocket Buddies

Tuesday, Oct. 25 & Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022

Join us as we assemble dental hygiene service kits and reading kits that will be distributed to children in need around the St. Louis region. Last year, more than 430,000 children benefited from United Way services, including our employees’ efforts. A small act like putting together dental hygiene kits took just a few minutes, but leads to healthier, brighter smiles for children who do not have access to basic supplies, like a toothbrush or floss. Reading kits, “pocket buddies”, encourage St. Louis children to enjoy reading and increase childhood literacy rates. Each buddy bag provides local children with a book to bring home reading and a reading buddy (stuffed animal).

Washington University Community Stories

As part of our Caring for the Community initiative, we continue to build and strengthen community partnerships with non-profit organizations in St. Louis. Read stories of how members of the WashU community embrace and encourage civic engagement with their family, friends and colleagues.

I love being a member of such a generous community as St. Louis. It’s a collective win when those in our community in the most need can find the support to thrive. We each can do a little bit to raise up our region.”
